Don't lose customers to retailers that offer mobile e-commerce solutions.  Mobile/Smartphone devices are outselling desktops and laptops combined.  The current and future generation workforce will only want to work on these devices for both their social and business interactions.

Desktop sites aren’t going away anytime soon but as more and more young people enter the workforce, businesses that don’t offer mobile/smartphone ordering capability will surely lose market share.

You've Outgrown Quickbooks When..... #3

Posted by Craig Greitzer on May 2, 2014 11:38:00 AM

You’ve Outgrown QuickBooks When… Weak Audit Trails put you at risk

Mysterious changes in the books need to be accounted for, but many basic accounting programs, QuickBooks included, allow any user to login and edit data as needed, without any restrictions or an audit trail.  Unless you memorize every number in the books, these seemingly little changes can create a larger problem – inaccurate numbers and skewed data.  If you’re making decisions based on inaccurate data, there’s no telling which direction it can take you,
opening the door to extreme risk.

Growing Pain #3: Weak Audit Trails

If you can’t answer to the changes made in your QuickBooks program, then you may be putting your business at risk of being audited.  In addition, not having insight into certain decisions makes it difficult, if not impossible, to verify the reasons for thechanges or the integrity of the resulting data.  You know you’ve outgrown QuickBooks when you can’t trust your data or provide a complete financial audit trail.

Protecting your data and putting the right controls in place is possible, and easy, with a business solution from BMI and Microsoft.  You can restrict access to confidential or sensitive portions of your data, such as proprietary data or customer credit card information, to directors and managers.  You can also provide each of your users with access to the software features that pertain to their immediate job tasks and restrict access to the remainder of your data and functions.

Electronic audit features within Microsoft business solutions will track data changes, as well as control them to create a complete trail of changes.  With the introduction of forms requiring approvals for certain types of data changes or by creating alerts to notify managers and directors with each occurrence, records maintain their integrity.  A record for all data changes can be maintained to protect data integrity, ensure compliance, and reduce the chance for human error.

proactive and predictive, with built-in workflows that guide your employees forward through their work. It also provides your people with powerful embedded business intelligence tools that help transform data into insight. Signs You've Outgrown Quickbooks #2

Posted by Craig Greitzer on Apr 11, 2014 12:44:00 PM

In this continuing blog series, we will address some of those common pains that will help you identify whether it’s time for a change.

You’ve Outgrown QuickBooks When… Your business insight isn’t very insightful.

Companies used to track and update general ledgers by hand in notebooks or in rudimentary spreadsheets on the computer.  Basic accounting software soon followed, and QuickBooks
was amongst the leaders to capture the accounting software marketplace.  While QuickBooks is great entry-level accounting software, it has its limitations and these limitations may now be hindering your overall business efficiency, profitability and growth.

Growing Pain #2: Limited Financial Insight

Financial data and cash flow is the lifeblood of your business and if you’re not sure it’s on track, then running everything else can get quite difficult. Although QuickBooks helps businesses move from manual calculations to automatic reconciliations, growing businesses need to know more
about their finances than what QuickBooks can provide.  You know you’ve outgrown QuickBooks when you have to manually combine cross-department or multiple business units’ financial
reports to figure out cash flow, budget and forecasting projections, and profitability.

There comes a point when basic accounting software can’t provide the financial insight you need to support a growing business.  A business solution from BMI and Microsoft Dynamics NAV provides a complete solution for your business operations without the complexity of traditional enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.

An end-to-end view of your business in a solution will make it easier to track cash flow and expenses, create realistic forecasts, and make the swift, confident decisions that drive business growth.  In-depth financial insight, such as real-time access to expected costs, cash flow, and accurate revenue reports, are essential when determining the profitability of the products or services you offer.  You simply can’t get 360 degree insight from basic accounting software.

Join us next week when we explore the next growing pain:  Weak Audit Trails.

Top Reasons To Purchase Microsoft Dynamics NAV

A business solution from Microsoft and BMI—It’s more than just ERP

You’ve worked hard to build your small or midsize business, and when it comes to the
technology that helps you run it, there’s no reason to compromise. Whether you are outgrowing entry-level accounting software, rubber-banding a legacy solution, or simply tired of paying annual maintenance fees to a vendor that provides little to no value for your money—now is the time to take the next step and give your people the tools to propel your business forward.

If you’re on a journey to find the solution that is the best fit for your company, you will likely encounter multiple vendors to consider along the way. So, for the next severral weeks, we will be posting a series of blogs that cover why you should consider a business solution from Microsoft and BMI as your top choice.

Top Reasons to Purchase a Business Solution from Microsoft and BMI:

  • Helps You Work Better, Faster and Smarter
  • Looks Forward, Not Backward
  • Gets You Up and Running Quickly
  • Provides a Flexible Deployment Model
  • Works the Way You Do
  • Transforms the Way You Work and Connect
  • Drives and Supports Your Business Growth
  • Reduces Your Risk and Propels Your Business

It’s More Than Just ERP

As you go through the process of evaluating technology vendors and solutions, you’ll probably find a long list of options, many of which can help you balance your books, manage your inventory, create a budget— all the things you’d expect a software package to do. As you
evaluate these options, it might be hard to tell the difference between many of them, but it will soon become clear that a business solution from Microsoft is more than just ERP.

That’s because the Microsoft vision for business applications goes beyond what a simple stand-alone ERP solution can do. The vision starts with a unique combination of business intelligence, collaboration, and communication tools embedded across your business processes. That combination creates a proactive, productive workforce, and it provides your business with a solution that connects your people and your company. This connected experience also blurs the lines between personal and professional applications, helping to transform the way you and
your people work. The results: a greater level of control over your business, increased profitability, higher employee and customer satisfaction, and new opportunities to grow your business.

Signs You Have Outgrown Quickbooks #1

Posted by Craig Greitzer on Apr 4, 2014 12:51:00 PM

In this blog series, we will address some of those common pains that will help you identify whether it’s time for a change.

QuickBooks is a great entry-level accounting solution, one that you’ve most likely had a good experience with. As your business grows, however, QuickBooks may not be able to keep up.
There are telltale signs you've hit your limits with your current systems and when those signs start to show up, it’s likely your future growth is at risk. Growth means change and not many of us are keen on change, especially when it comes to changing your business software. But if your business success is at risk, then it’s extremely important to make a move before it’s too late.

Growing Pain #1:  Creating Multiple Workarounds

As your business grows, your financial data becomes more complex, your supply chain isn’t the fine-tuned machine it used to be, and setting up workarounds begins to feel like a full-time job.  When you find yourself using so many creative workarounds that managing your businesses seems more challenging and time consuming than it should be, it may be time to step up to a business management solution that is ready for the next stage of your growth. Comprehensive doesn’t have to mean complex.

Microsoft Dynamics NAV, formerly Navision, is a complete, yet easy to use solution to help manage your entire business from financials, people, supply chain and customer relationship management, and it provides powerful business intelligence right from the start so that workarounds can become a thing of the past. The important thing to remember is that your ERP software should work for you instead of make you work harder.

As a Microsoft Dynamics partner, BMI has helped many businesses that have outgrown their entry-level accounting software using the power of Microsoft Dynamics NAV / Navision to support the next phase of their business.

Join us next week when we explore the growing pain: Limited Financial Insight.

Microsoft Convergence 2014 / Dynamics NAV

Posted by Craig Greitzer on Mar 6, 2014 12:45:00 PM

Very exciting Convergence conference featuring Microsoft Dynamics products. Over 12,000 people in attendance made up of Customers, Partners and Prospects. There were keynote speeches from Arianna Huffington (Owner/Editor-in-Chief Huffington Post), Biz Stone (Co-Founder Twitter) and Kirill Tartarinov (Executive VP Microsoft Business Solutions). They focused on doing business in a more digitally connected world. I thought Arianna was the best speaker, smart and funny. The big announcement was that Dynamics NAV / Navision has passed 100,000 implementations. Not many ERP packages can make that claim. Lots of focus and deep dives on NAV 2013 and the interaction with Excel and Office 365. All in all, great show with lots of happy and tired attendees. Tonight, they are closing the show with a concert from the group FUN at Philips Arena.
